An Engineer-Author's Journey Through Construction, Literature, and Social Impact
About Dhrubajitt Saikia
He blends engineering expertise with literary pursuits and compassionate social service. Having served in the Irrigation Department, he combines technical insight with a deep commitment to community welfare. An engineer and author dedicated to meaningful development, his multifaceted journey reflects inventive construction, thoughtful writing, and benevolent initiatives.
His five years on deputation with the Brahmaputra Board under MoWR was an especially enriching experience, giving him exposure to professionalism, teamwork, and high-level communication. These skills continue to guide his work even today.
He remains deeply grateful to his parent department, the Irrigation Department, which gave him opportunities to look beyond routine work and explore how its resources could be used for the greater good. It inspired him to motivate farmers, youth, and the wider public to value agricultural land, make use of the services offered by the Irrigation Department, and nurture the soil with pride—seeing it as a foundation for growth rather than something to be given up.
*This website brings together his engineering and literary contributions, along with his involvement in NGOs and Engineering Associations. It stands as a way to preserve memories and express gratitude to those who inspired and supported him.
This is the portfolio of an accomplished engineer from the Irrigation Department, who has also made his mark as an author and social contributor. His work spans mainy three domains:

• During this period, he honed his skills in project planning and management, meeting deadlines, computer applications, and effective communication with senior officials. These abilities continue to enrich his work even today.

• Authored writings on developmental themes that shed light on the challenges and aspirations of society.
Community Service
• Actively engaged in NGOs and associations, contributing to community-building efforts.

"It is a good book to read, which is based on his life history. He explained all his life events very nicely in his book. One can know many unknown things about Majuli and also of POWIET of Jorhat where he studied. I found it more interesting as he wrote about his words of the Irrigation department, where I worked. He presented the book to me on the day we got acquainted. After reading the book, I called him over phone and appreciated the book."

Ro-pex Journey to Majuli

Love for Society, Love for Majuli
The Sonali Jayanti Toran: A Tribute of Love and Respect
-- Er. Dhrubajitt Saikia, A.E.E (Retd.), Irrigation Deptt., GOA & President of Construction Committee for Sonali Jayanti Toran
The idea of constructing a Toran or ceremonial gate was brought up in a Google Meet organized in connection with Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Bhakatiduar Higher Secondary School situated in Ujoni Majuli Revenue Circle, which completed 50 years as a High School in 2024. The plan for `the gate to mark this auspicious occasion of our beloved school was proposed by two former students of the school, and this soon became a dream project deeply cherished by all the former students of the educational institution. Everyone present at the Google Meet wholeheartedly accepted the proposal of construction of the Sonali Jayanti Toran. It was unanimously decided that the construction of the Toran would be done with the contribution of the willing alumni living in Majuli and others now residing in different parts of our country and abroad. The members present in the meeting constituted the Construction Committee with a few former students of the school after a threadbare discussion on the objectives with Er. Dhrubajitt Saikia as the President of the Construction Committee for Sonali Jayanti Toran (Session 2024-2025) I did my best to help them by preparing the initial drawing with detailed layout of rod in columns and combined footing considering the design of the gate keeping seismic parameters related to N.E. Region and seismic sensitive Zone-V in mind. I firmly requested the members to follow the design for safety of the structure in the future. The first part of the drawing was sent in pdf format to the Treasurer of the Construction Committee on time and the Foundation Stone was laid successfully on 15th December 2024. The detailed Drawing of the gate was later collected from me by him on 13-12-2024.

Football isn’t just about goals; it’s about teamwork, trust, and unity. The 'Yuva Shakha' lived these values through a spirited match that brought together young and old, rich and poor alike.
More than a game, it became a celebration of friendship and togetherness—uniting members and non-members as one team, one community.
